Lead Hand - Heavy Landscape Background

Your Role:

As the lead hand, you will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and playability of a golf course. Your expertise in landscaping and turf management will ensure our greens, fairways, and landscaped areas are in top-notch condition. Key Responsibilities:

  • Landscape Maintenance:

    • Lead the charge in maintaining and enhancing all golf course soft and hard landscaping, from majestic trees to vibrant flower beds.

    • Implement creative landscaping plans, designs and solutions that elevate the aesthetic appeal of our course.    

    • Perform professional pruning, trimming, and planting to keep our landscapes flourishing.

  • Turf Management:

    • Assist in the meticulous care of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other turf areas, ensuring they remain healthy and lush.

    • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and treatments with precision to promote optimal turf health.

    • Monitor turf conditions and implement aeration, topdressing, and overseeding practices to perfection.

  • Irrigation Systems:

    • Assist in managing our advanced irrigation systems, ensuring every inch of our course receives the ideal amount of water.

    • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation issues swiftly, maintaining optimal watering schedules.

  • Supervision and Training:

    • Lead and inspire our maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.

    • Provide comprehensive training on safe equipment use, chemical applications, and best maintenance practices.

  • Equipment Maintenance:

    • Oversee the upkeep and repair of all landscaping and turf maintenance equipment, ensuring peak performance.

    • Maintain a rigorous schedule for cleaning, servicing, and storing equipment.

  • Course Setup:

    • Assist in the daily setup of the course, including setting tee markers, changing hole locations, and maintaining bunkers.

    • Ensure the course is impeccably prepared for daily play and special events.

  • Record Keeping:

    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, chemical applications, and equipment servicing.

    • Assist in preparing insightful reports for the Golf Course Superintendent.

  • Environmental Compliance:

    • Uphold and promote environmentally friendly practices, ensuring all maintenance activities adhere to regulations.

    • Champion sustainability and conservation efforts throughout the course.

  • Customer Service:

    • Engage with golfers and guests in a friendly and professional manner, enhancing their experience.

    • Address and resolve any maintenance-related concerns promptly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree or certification in turf management, horticulture, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience: 3-5 years landscaping with leadership and team management abilities.

  • Skills:

    • Extensive knowledge of turfgrass management, plant health, and landscape maintenance.

    • Proficiency with maintenance equipment and irrigation systems.

    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.

  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as bending, kneeling, and operating machinery.
