HVAC Designer

Calgary, Alberta
Roska DBO Inc. is currently seeking a Full-Time HVAC Designer to work out of our customer’s downtown Calgary office. The HVAC Designer is responsible for detailed design and drafting of HVAC systems for industrial facilities, supporting all project phases including procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, commissioning, start-up, and final handover. This is a 12–18 month minimum term role, (Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day).

Key Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of HVAC design experience
  • Experience preparing HVAC P&IDs and schematics
  • Experience developing HVAC control narratives
  • Proficiency in HVAC equipment and ducting layout
  • Ideally combined with experience in industrial process P&IDs
  • Proficient in Smart 3D (S3D) for design and 3D modeling
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed HVAC design activities to produce high-quality, constructible design packages
  • Develop and maintain HVAC P&IDs, schematics, control narratives, equipment layouts, and ducting plans
  • Collaborate with engineers, operations, and project teams to ensure designs meet project criteria, constructability, and operational requirements
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project scope, cost, and schedule objectives
  • Ensure designs are constructible in the field with minimal revisions
  • Support cost estimate development and project scheduling
  • Comply with the Project Quality Management System and applicable codes and standards
  • Manage design scope and support formal change management processes when required
  • Ensure HVAC design deliverables align with safety, environmental, operability, efficiency, and maintainability standards

Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • P.Eng. designation not required
  • Minimum 10 years of HVAC design experience, preferably in industrial facilities
  • Proficiency in S3D (Smart 3D)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
