Roska DBO Inc. is currently seeking a Full-Time Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer to work out of our customer’s downtown Calgary office. The I&C Designer is responsible for detailed design development and providing design support throughout all project phases, including procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, commissioning, start-up, and final handover. This is a 12–18 month minimum term role, (Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day).
Key Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience as an I&C Designer or in a design-focused instrumentation and controls role
Experience with industrial control systems, including development of datasheets and loop diagrams
Proficient in SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation) for design and documentation
Experience preparing and maintaining instrument data sheets, loop diagrams, and technical documentation for industrial systems
Ability to coordinate with engineering and operations teams to ensure designs are constructible and meet project requirements
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with applicable Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements
Perform detailed I&C design activities to produce high-quality, constructible design packages
Develop and maintain deliverables including datasheets, loop diagrams, instrument layouts, and documentation in SPI
Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure design criteria, constructability, and operational requirements are met
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to support project scope, cost, and schedule objectives
Ensure designs are constructible in the field with minimal revisions
Support cost estimate and project schedule development
Comply with the Project Quality Management System and applicable instrumentation and controls standards
Manage design scope and support formal change management processes when required
Ensure I&C design deliverables align with safety, environmental, operability, efficiency, and maintainability standards
Qualifications
Diploma or degree in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
P.Eng. designation not required
Minimum 10 years of relevant I&C design experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Legally entitled to work in Canada
