Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer

Roska DBO Inc. is currently seeking a Full-Time Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer (P.Eng.) to work out of our customer’s downtown Calgary office. The I&C Engineer is responsible for detailed design and engineering support of industrial control systems throughout all project phases, including procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, commissioning, start-up, and final handover. This is a 12–18 month minimum term role, (Monday–Friday, 8 hours/day).

Key Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as an I&C Engineer
  • Experience with industrial control systems, including:
    • Control system architecture
    • Fibre optic network architecture
    • Instrumentation specification and selection
    • Honeywell Control Logix PLC systems
  • Experience preparing control schematics, loop diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Experience supporting procurement, installation, commissioning, and start-up of industrial control systems
  • Knowledge of industrial codes, standards, and safety practices

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements.
  • Perform detailed I&C engineering activities to deliver high-quality, constructible designs.
  • Develop and review deliverables, including control system architecture, instrumentation diagrams, fibre optic layouts, and PLC configuration documents.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure design criteria, constructability, and operational requirements are met.
  • Support procurement activities including vendor evaluations, instrument and control equipment specifications, and technical clarifications.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to meet project scope, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Ensure designs are constructible in the field with minimal revisions.
  • Support cost estimate and project schedule development.
  • Comply with the Project Quality Management System and applicable control system standards.
  • Manage scope and support formal change management processes when required.
  • Ensure I&C work is implemented in accordance with safety, environmental, operability, efficiency, and maintainability standards.

Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with APEGA in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant I&C engineering experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
