HSE Advisor

Roska DBO Inc. is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to be based out of our Grande Prairie office.  This vital role will support the loss control program for multiple locations and with various disciplines for Roska’s dynamic and growing organization. We are looking for a motivated individual who cares about supporting our staff and managers to make loss control a core part of daily activities.

This position requires you to be local to the Grande Prairie Area or willing to relocate. Some travel is expected due to a field component as well as remote work locations and post incident needs. The successful candidate will conduct all activities in a manner that supports Roska's CORE Values.

Anticipated responsibilities:
  • Actively participate and support the implementation of the Company's Loss Control Program
  • Lead or support incident investigations and make recommendations on solutions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Develop site-specific safety plans and ERPs for both owner and client project work as required
  • Plan, organize, and participate in safety meetings
  • Attend/Support effective tailgate/toolbox meetings
  • Fill in for Loss Control Coordinator as required
  • Participate in on-site Safety Support for owner and client project work as required
  • Participate in the development and delivery of HSE training for all personnel
  • Participate in Emergency Response preparedness development and conduct training exercises.
  • Participate in facility inspections and worker job observations
  • Ensure Safety Programs are up to date and current with work being performed
  • Provide HSE technical and regulatory assistance and advice to Business Units and staff
  • Provide coaching and support to managers enabling them to effectively integrate the Company's Loss Control Program into their business accountabilities  
  • Monitor, track, and evaluate HSE statistics to identify trends and make suggestions for appropriate action plans to mitigate problems
  • Support the Company's Drug & Alcohol testing program (pre-employment and post-incident)
  • Support strong FLHA development and hazard controls
  • Support Project Managers with on-site risk assessments to aid in job planning.
  • Support HSE audits by developing, monitoring, and tracking action plans for recommendations
  • Support where needed for the Joint Health and Safety Committees
  • Support the process of reviewing and updating company Programs, Systems, Procedures, and Standards as required
  • Support with Contractor Management System maintenance
  • Other HSE and Loss Control duties as required
Skills required:
  • Understanding of Loss Control/HSE principles and how to maximize value for the company and clients
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work activities and function within tight time schedules
  • Be competent in incident reporting and completing incident investigations
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor other personnel
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, listening, and presentation skills
Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years HSE advisory or leadership experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to HSE principles in previous roles
 
Education/Certification Required:
  • NCSO designation or equivalent training with industry experience
  • Relevant Safety Professional designation or recognized industry certification is an asset
  • Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean driver’s abstract
  • High School Diploma or GED required and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
