Construction Scheduler / Planner

Sherwood Park, Alberta

A major oil and gas company is seeking an experienced Construction Scheduler / Planner to support the development and construction of a new hydrogen production facility in Alberta. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, scheduling, and tracking all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring milestones, budgets, and construction targets are achieved.
This position will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to develop and maintain an integrated master schedule for a large-scale gas plant build.

This role will be based out of Sherwood Park, Alberta. The shift will be Mon-Fri. 

Job Scope & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) phases
  • Build and manage schedules using industry-standard scheduling software
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to validate logic, durations, and resource loading
  • Monitor project progress, critical path, float analysis, and schedule risk
  • Provide schedule forecasting, variance analysis, and mitigation strategies
  • Support turnaround planning and construction sequencing
  • Prepare progress reports, dashboards, and executive-level schedule updates
  • Participate in constructability reviews and planning workshops
  • Ensure alignment between field execution plans and master schedule milestones
Skills Requirements:
  • 5+ years of scheduling/planning experience in oil and gas construction projects
  • Direct experience supporting gas plant or major facility construction projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycle and construction sequencing
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 (preferred) or equivalent scheduling software
  • Experience with critical path methodology (CPM) and earned value management (EVM) principles
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work packages, and construction plans
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline project environment
  • Valid safety tickets and capable of passing pre-employment drug & alcohol testing
