Our client, a large oil and gas company, has an immediate opening for a Contracts Specialist. This is a 24 month contract role based out of their downtown Calgary head office.
As a Contract Specialist you will be responsible for the end-to-end contracting life cycle supporting the operational activities of th client's Oil Sands production. You will collaborate with the business areas to understand their requirements and obtain valuable buy in on contracting strategies that are commercially competitive.
Responsibilities:
• Proactively identify and understand commercial/procurement needs from internal stakeholders and collaboratively propose competitive solutions
• Develop commercially competitive contracting and procurement strategies for mining equipment, components and labour with the Business Areas to optimize spend
• Manage the end-to-end contracting life cycle from Request for Proposal (RFP) through to award and then post award contract management and close-out
• Negotiate and award agreements to contractors and/or suppliers to ensure services and materials are provided in the most cost effective and proficient manner possible
• Understand and manage different elements of risk within the agreements such as financial, operational and legal, ensuring that they follow Canadian Natural’s risk profile
• Manage supplier relationships effectively and collaboratively drive continuous performance improvement via relevant contract key metrics (example: safety, costs and productivity)
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of related experience supporting development and operations of mines
• Experience with Unit Rate, Time & Materials and Lump Sum contracts for earthmoving, construction and civil works for open pit mining equipment ($100MM-$150MM annual spend accountability)
• Experience developing and completing complex sourcing strategies, RFPs and contracts
• Ability to complete projects on time and to deliver savings
• Ability to work effectively in a team and in a cross-functional environment
• Capability to understand and manage commercial risk, liability and legal terms and conditions
• Experience with computer enterprise or contract management systems
• Related post-secondary school education
• This is a safety sensitive position therefore must be able to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Some travel to sites as required for meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
