HSE Coordinator

Roska DBO Inc. is seeking an experienced HSE Coordinator to be based out of our Grande Prairie office.  This vital role will provide leadership and administration for the Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Program for multiple locations and with various disciplines for Roska DBO’s dynamic and growing organization. We are looking for a motivated individual who cares about supporting our staff and managers to make safety a core part of daily activities.

This position requires you to be local to the Grande Prairie Area or willing to relocate.  Some travel is expected due to a field component as well as remote work locations and post incident needs. The successful candidate will conduct all activities in a manner that supports Roska's CORE Values.

Anticipated responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership for the Company's HSE Program including corporate requirements and on-site support. It is expected that the Safety Coordinator provides leadership to support a behavior-based culture that aligns with Roska DBO’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Provide leadership and administration oversight for WorkHub (SafetySync) HSE compliance tool.
  • Provide leadership and administration oversight for customer HSE compliance requirements including ISNetworld and Complyworks.
  • Provide leadership and administration oversight for the company drug & alcohol testing program.
  • Responsible for HSE regulatory reporting to outside agencies (e.g., WCB, OHS, Worksafe BC, AER, etc.) is completed as required on time and accurately.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and make recommendations on solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Responsible for HSE statistics reporting and management dashboard
  • Support Human Resources Department with WCB reporting and claims management.
  • Support Roska operations with customer HSE requirements and requests including; HSE documentation, site specific safety plans, ERPs, incident investigation participation, safety meeting participation, etc.
  • Support HSE training and coaching relevant to Roska DBO

Skills required:
  • Leadership understanding of HSE behavior-based principles.
  • Understanding of HSE compliance requirements and administration processes for regulatory agencies relevant to Roska DBO (e.g., WCB, OHS, Worksafe BC, AER, etc.)
  • Administration understanding and experience with WorkHub (SafetySync), ISNetworld, complyworks or direct equivalents of these systems.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor other personnel.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work activities and function within tight time schedules.
  • Be competent in HSE statistical reporting and management dashboards.
  • Be competent in incident reporting and investigation process.
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, listening and presentation skills

  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience relevant to Roska DBO’s business
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience relevant to this HSE Coordinator position.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HSE behavior-based principles in previous roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working positively with field and operational staff.
Education/Certification Required:
  • NCSO designation or equivalent training with industry experience
  • Relevant Safety Professional designation or recognized industry certification is an asset
  • Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
  • High School Diploma or GED required and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
