HSE Professional

Grande Prairie, Alberta
Roska DBO Inc. is seeking an experienced HSE Professional to be based out of our Grande Prairie offices. This position requires you to be local to the Grande Prairie Area or willing to relocate.  Some travel is expected due to a field component as well as remote work locations and post incident needs. The successful candidate will conduct all activities in a manner that supports Roska's CORE Values.

Anticipated responsibilities:
  • Participate/assist in the development and implementation of various programs and systems to ensure that the principles of the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System are met including HSE policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Support all business units in post incident Drug & Alcohol testing.
  • Support/Lead incident investigations and make recommendations on solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Coach other supervisory/management personnel on incident investigations
  • Identify and participate in the development and delivery of appropriate HSE training for all personnel.
  • Provide technical and regulatory assistance and advice to business units and personnel in regard to HSE.
  • Assist with internal/external audits and develop, monitor, and track an action plan for recommendations.
  • Attend/present effective Tailgate/toolbox meetings.
  • Support strong FLHA development and hazard controls.
  • Participate in facility inspections and worker job observations.
  • Assist project Mangers with on site Risk assessments to aid in job planning.
  • Assist in Emergency Response preparedness development and conduct training exercises.
  • Ensure Safety Programs are up to date and current with work being performed.
  • Support where needed for the Joint Health and Safety Committees.
  • Plan, organize and participate in safety meetings.
  • Support the process to review and update company Programs, Systems, Procedures and Standards as required.
  • Monitor, track and evaluate HSE statistics to identify trends and make suggestions for appropriate action plans to mitigate problems.
  • Keep abreast of emerging Health, Safety and Environment issues and information by participating in meetings, workshops, round tables, lunch and learns throughout industry and communicate information back.
  • Fill in for Loss Control Coordinator as required.
  • Develop Site Specific safety plans and ERPs for project work where required and participate in on site Safety Support.
  • Assist with Contractor Management System maintenance.
  • Assist with Client Data base System Management.
  • Other duties as required
Skills required:
  • Understanding of Loss Control/HSE principles and how to maximize value for the company and clients
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work activities and function within tight time schedules
  • Be competent in incident reporting and completing incident investigation’s
  • Leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor other personnel
  • Demonstrated technical and administrative skills
  • Computer proficient including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, listening and presentation skills
  • Minimum 3-5 years industry experience relevant to Roska’s world
  • Minimum 5 years Safety experience
  • Exposure to and demonstrated commitment to HSE principles
Education/Certification Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED required and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
  • NCSO designation required
  • Safety Professional designation or recognized industry certification in a related discipline is required 
  • Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS, TDG
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and clean drivers abstract
