Contract Safety Compliance Coordinator

Lac La Biche, Alberta
Our client, a large oil and gas company is looking for a Contract Safety and Compliance Coordinator to join their busy team in Lac La Biche, Alberta.  In the position they will have the opportunity to demonstrate their previous expertise with Oil & Gas operations and safety by partnering with a cross functional Leadership team to provide support and guidance in the Kirby South and North (Kirby) District. As the successful candidate, you will make a significant contribution in the Health and Safety group while also taking full advantage of the learning opportunities.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Steward and promote implementing and utilizing the Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Be a champion of Safety while promoting and ensuring a consistent application of the SMS while meeting the intent of the businesses Mission Statement
  • Review and steward the incident report process amongst the Kirby district, conduct incident investigations and participate in root cause analysis
  • Inspect facilities – rigs – pipeline construction & ground disturbance activities, and take part in Worksite Safety Observations (WSO’s) of service providers, consultants and operations – with the intent to Develop People to achieve sustainable continuous improvement / alignment with the SMS
  • Evaluate incident, near miss, inspections and WSO data, identify and effectively communicate trends
  • Conduct testing, evaluations and provide recommendations in relation to industrial hygiene and the mitigation of worker exposure to chemical & harmful substances 
  • Participate in project planning meetings, area safety meetings, and pre-job safety meetings and conduct periodic field – facility and project tours to promote a safe working environment in all field areas. Be an approachable and supportive safety presence throughout the Kirby District
  • Provide coaching to leadership by identifying opportunities for safety culture improvement
  • Facilitate Emergency Response Plan training and exercises including tabletop and major drills

  • Job location: Lac La Biche, Alberta
  • Eligible for fly in / fly out
  • This is a safety sensitive position
  • Shift schedule: 7x7 Tuesday to Tuesday

Skills / Qualifications / Attributes:
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the SMS and its application to BU/Groups
  • Having a background in Oil & Gas operations as an operator is an asset
  • Approachable, personable, display strength in ability to work together and achieve results
  • Sincere and possess ability to adjust personality and communication style to that best suited for the situation or audience
  • Highly motivated, organized and maintains a personal accountability to deliver on expectations with minimal supervision and transparent communications
  • Data analysis and computer skills are required.
